Altered Rolodex Cards in my Etsy Shop.
I love altering Rolodex Cards. I found this old Heidi Swapp paper at Tuesday Mornings last week and wanted to use it for something, so decided to alter some Rolodex Cards.
I love this twenty five dollar Accucut Die that cuts the Rolodex Divider Card. I have definately paid for this die over and over.
Also love my Quickutz die that cuts the different shape tabs. I think this set has been discontinued by LifeCrafts/Quickutz but can still be found on Ebay every once in a while.
I am also a fan of Perfect Paper Adhesive ( PPA) for adhering the pattern paper to the chipboard. I use chipboard that I purchase from Accucut and it is the perfect thickness. As the PPA dries, the chipboard curls but as it gets drier, it flattens back out perfect.
I love to scrapbook, make altered home decor items and create dimensional and paper pieced scrapbook embellishments, especially handmade paper tear bears. If you are looking for 2 page scrapbook layout ideas, I have them labeled by theme. Look in the right column under LABELS and click on the theme you want to see.

Altered Rolodex Cards
Altered Rolodex Cards make a great gift for a co-worker or buy a set for yourself to brighten you desk.
I love this color scheme of pink, brown, salmon and white. The brads are copper color. The back of the cards are plain white. I made this set from white chipboard which worked great. The perfect thickness with the added paper, just a little thinner than a credit card. These cards fit the Petite Rolodex which is for business size cards 4"w and 2.5" tall. These cards are a little thicker than the orginal Rolodex divider cards so you may need to remove some of the blank cards to fit these in the smallest Rolodex.
I tore the added paper and sanded the edges of the cards for an altered shabby look, then added ribbon to make it pretty. I made the flower on the front from torn crumpled matching paper and sanded it, See the veins in the leaves, love doing that!
You can find these for sale in my Etsy shop.

Altered Rolodex Cards

Now I have the Accucut Rolodex Card die and oh my goodness did it decrease the time needed to make these altered Rolodex Cards. And the cards are all uniform shape. The die comes in two sizes for the small (business size card) or large Rolodex card. I am so happy that I purchased the Accucut die cutting system!
The tabs and letters are Quickutz dies but Accucut has similar tabs too! And by signing up for Accucut emails, I frequently recieve offers for discounts on the dies which makes them as affordable as Quickutz. Or you could ask your local scrapbook store to purchase this die if they have the Accucut die cutting system. This die is cheap and sooooo much fun to make these Altered Rolodex cards.
I cut two pieces of cardstock and one piece of patterned paper for each card. The tabs are also two pieces of cardstock. I first adhered the two pieces of each tab together using matte Perfect Paper Adhesive ( PPA) and adhered the letters to the tab with PPA. While those are drying, I assembled the fronts of the cards and adhered the torn patterened paper with PPA and let those dry. Then attach the tabs, I used a very small amount of Scrappy Glue for this. Add the brads. Now you are ready to attach the second die cut card to the back using PPA. I like making the cards with two layers of cardstock and using PPA to assemble so they are stiff and hold up with use. If the cards curl up while drying, don't worry, after they dry just put them under a stack of books overnight and they will straighten right out.
I am making these cards for my daughter's co-workers. She is a bigtime FSU Seminole fan! Go Gators UF, LOL!! We have a little college rivalry going on. LOL!!
One could also alter the larger Rolodex cards and use for recipe cards which seem to be all the rage these days. Thank you Karen for that idea !! Also make altered Rolodex cards with the months on them to keep up with important dates, ie. anniversaries and birthdays.

Altered Rolodex Cards listed on ebay
I finally got a new auction listed on ebay! I made a set of the Altered Rolodex Cards in pink and brown. I really need to get a set made for myself! I was up til 5am working on them. I received an email from my older daughter and the time on her email was 5:33 am, are we two of a kind or what, I know she didn't get up that early! LOL! And I just talked to my younger daughter and she is loving college life this semester, uhm....I wonder why, 4 of her 5 classes are art and photography related.
I guess I better get off here and go do some work...later....
