Floating Frame using Accucut Scallop Mat

I saw a project similar to this on Scrapbook Memories TV. But as usual I changed everything about it except that the photo appears to float in the middle of the frame. I sandwiched everything between two pieces of glass so you can easily clean the glass in years to come without touching the photo or stamping.
The black and white photo is 5x7 so I cut the Accucut Scallop Mat on the non scallop side to fit the photo (item #M1236 for those who might like to purchase the mat die from Accucut).
Stamping on glass looks much easier than I actually found it to be. It took alot of practice to get the stamped images to look nice. I used Close to my Heart Flourish acrylic stamps and Stazon ink to stamp the images. The Stazon cleanser takes the stamped images off the glass very easily if you make a mistake as I did many times LOL! Keep your Windex and paper towels nearby also to clean the glass after you use the Stazon cleaner.
I used a 1/4" strip of black matt board between the two pieces of glass in the frame around the entire outer edge of the frame so it doesn't show through to the front, but gives a space between the two pieces of glass. There are also tiny clear gemstones on the flourishes and a piece of black velvet ribbon across the frame between the two pieces of glass. I adhered the photo to the Scallop mat and then adhered that to the back piece of glass.
When you hang this photo on the wall, your wall color will show through the glass and looks really cool. This one is just sitting on my desk until I can decide where I want to hang it.
This is the project we will be doing this weekend at Inspiration Cafe Bradenton during our all day crop. The cost is $10 with all profits going to the Cafe.

Altered Canvas Calendar

I saw this home decor idea originally on the Paper Crazy blog at The Paper Mill Store

www.thepapermillstore.com/papercrazy/ .

This is the direct link to their photo http://www.thepapermillstore.com/papercrazy/?page_id=91&album=1&photo=586

I liked it so much that I did my own version of the calendar except I made it on a 11"x14" canvas. I printed the calendar pages using a program on my computer but it would be fun to make the pages with stamps too. I reinforced the back of the canvas with a piece of cardboard that I put the silver clasp through. The cardboard gives the canvas some support so you can write on the calendar pages.

I have never been a big fan of home decor classes because generally the class project won't match my home decor. So when I was planning this project for Inspiration Cafe's monthly project, I decided to bring the basics for the class and have everyone bring their own paper and paint. We'll see how this goes.

We will be making this at Inspiration Cafe's all day crop on July 19. I will provide the canvas and clasp, scrappy glue, pop dots, Stickles, corrugated cardboard, chipboard to cut the letters for whatever you want your calendar title to be and beads for the flower centers. I will show you how to make the flowers.

Since home decor colors are all so different, I thought everyone could bring their own paint in your favorite color and patterned paper to match your home decor. You will also need cardstock to cover the letters, or you can paint your letters.

Altered Starbucks Frap bottles for Buttons

Altered Starbucks bottles for button storage is finished finally. I decided to just paint the lids to match the button colors and add a little ribbon to the bottles instead of altering the bottle with paper. I like the look of all the colorful buttons showing through the clear glass. DH made the wooden shelf to fit the Starbucks bottles and to just fit over my ribbon shelf and tv. I am quite happy with the way they turned out!

Scrapbook Altered Home Decor Heidi Swapp Clock

Can you tell I am taking a break from scrapbooking for others and scrapping for myself this weekend! I have eight layouts that need to be made for two customers but they don't mind waiting a day or two. I'll probably talk them all into making an altered Heidi Swapp clock before the weekend is over.
This altered Heidi Swapp Clock was wayyyy too much fun to make. I used the Creative Escape 2006 book for inspiration to make mine. My lss had a class on this last year, their version of the altered clock was beautiful, but I didn't take it because I wanted the freedom to use my own colors and embellishments and I am so glad I waited.
I'll try and give instructions as best as I can. The clock had to be completly taken apart to start with, the clock comes with instructions on how to do this. Then I spray painted a black Heidi Swapp clock with pink Krylon interior/exterior spray paint, any color to match your home decor would work. The HS pink clocks are now available but I purchased this clock before pink was available.
I removed the plastic overlay with the clock numbers on it from inside the clock and used that as a template to cut my Close to My Heart patterned paper that I used as the background for my altered clock. Cut just inside your pencil line for a perfect fit. I adhered the patterned paper with one of my two favorite scrapbooking adhesives, Herma dotto removable adhesive, apply the adhesive to the paper and then press gently into the clock, worked like a charm.
The photo was cropped to fit just above the clock hands. I zoomed in and cropped just us out of the original photo, then enlarged our heads to fit a 4x6 photo and printed on my daughters home printer. I am very impressed with myself! This is my most cherished photo of my teen years. It is me and my hubby sitting beside each other at a birthday party in 1971, I was in middle school and he was the older man in high school...what a scandal. LOL! We didn't marry until years later. Ok, back to the clock...
The photo is mounted on a matching blue cardstock mat with pink Heidi Swapp chipboard photo corners on two edges. I added the three clear bling gems to one of them. This was attached to the patterned paper background using the same adhesive Herma-dotto removable.
Using a silver Krylon leafing pen I carefully colored just the edge of the pink Heidi Swapp upper case rhyme ghost letters, the pink HS XL ghost clock and the pink Heidi Swapp heart ghost shapes. I also used the leafing pen to color the second hand silver. While those peices were drying I used Making Memories Simply Stated rub on numbers 1971 and assembled the pink metallic Heidi Swapp chipboard label holder adding a couple of clear blings using my second most favorite liquid adhesive, Scrappy Glue by Magic Scraps, and attached the label holder to the clock with Glue Dots, my third favorite scrapbooking adhesive. Ok, speaking of favorite adhesives, my fourth favorite adhesive is the Xyron 150 (which is on sale this week at Michael's 30% off) and I use Perfect Paper for adhering paper to wood.
After the silver leafing was dry, I attached all of the Heidi Swapp ghost embellishments with Glue Dots, even the clear XL ghost clock. I can't see the adhesive throught the items at all. Than I adhered the Heidi Swapp pink bling heart over the ghost clock, it is self adhesive. The cute little pink bow was adhered with a Glue Dot. Then I reassembled the clock all by myself, no help from hubby (it was 5AM and he was sleeping like I should have been) and put the battery in and it worked!!
Now to figure out where to hang it in my scrapbook room...huhm...which wall will it look best on?

Altered Heidi Swapp Calendar

This is the Heidi Swapp Calendar that I altered for this month. The only things that comes printed on the pages are the month ( I covered over it with a silver chipboard library plate), the squares for the days (it comes with number stickers that I can't seem to get to stick) and along the top she has the days of the week except it starts with a Monday...don't confuse me anymore than I already am, my week starts with Sunday. So I printed out the days of the week with my old trusty Dymo Label machine and red tape and changed the days of the week to start with Sunday and end on Saturday. The silver library plate is made by Heidi Swapp as well as the white rub-ons, red bling heart and pink stickers. I'm not a big rub on user, these went on well but you can see where the red cardstock kind of shows through the cracks that are in the white letters....huhm probably wouldn't purchase any more. The red hearts and wings are die-cuts made with the Quickutz Tattoo Art die...just love it!! Oh and the big red blings that are on the silver name plate are just some I had in my old stash of craft items. The numbers are stamped with red Staz-On ink using Close to My Heart ( CTMH ) numbers, can't remember what the name of them are. I stayed up way too late last night working on this and I finally finished altering my pink Heidi Swapp Clock. I will add that later...got to get ready to go for a "top-less" ride to the beach out to eat with hubby. No silly, not me, the car is top-less, get it?...hahahaha
